Oolite (from the Greek oon "egg" and lithos "stone") is a sedimentary rock consisting of many small mineral spheres (ooids). The pellets are cemented together by a clayey or calcareous binder. If the globules consist of lime (calcite or aragonite), the stone is also called rogenstone or pea stone.
