Aqua Aura is a treated quartz that is coated on the surface with a color-imparting layer. Originally, a vapor deposition process was often used, in which an extremely thin, gold-containing film was applied. Since this process is very expensive and frequently causes fractures or damage to the quartz due to the high temperatures involved, a transparent, high-quality lacquer is now often used instead.
